Biography
Chelu Kamlika Matuzya is a seasoned communications professional with over a decade of experience in journalism, broadcasting, and public relations across Africa. As the Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at the PPP Centre, Chelu has honed her skills in creating impactful communication strategies and managing high-profile events. She has worked with notable organizations such as Deutsche Welle (DW), Women in News (WAN-IFRA), and Aga Khan University, focusing on leadership, gender reporting, and mentoring the next generation of media leaders. Chelu is known for her captivating storytelling, strategic thinking, and commitment to ethical journalism. Her contributions to the media landscape have earned her the Excellence in Journalism Award Tanzania (EJAT) and recognition for her gender-focused content from organizations like Farm Radio International. Chelu holds a Master's in Mass Communication from St. Augustine University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Tumaini University, demonstrating her solid educational foundation in media and communications.
Chelu has held various leadership positions, including Senior Journalist at Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), where she produced, edited, and hosted programs covering gender, health, and environmental issues. Chelu is also a dedicated mentor, having trained and coached professionals at institutions like Deutsche Welle Akademie and Women in News (WAN-IFRA). With a passion for media ethics, leadership, and communication innovation, Chelu continues to shape public perception and drive positive change in the media industry.
