$110 million PPP project to reduce accidents

THE Executive Director of the Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPP-CENTRE), David Kafulila, has said that a massive $110 million project for road safety inspections will eliminate the hassle for drivers.

He also said that human errors and corruption that may occur during routine inspections will be identified using the system.

Kafulila made the remarks on May 13, 2026, while delivering a presentation at the PPP Training Workshop for various government officials, which is ongoing at the PSSSF Commercial Tower, Dar es Salaam.

He said the project is based on the power of public-private partnerships in the use of technology and providing solutions to the community.

In addition, the Director has called on government ministries and institutions to wake up and use their dormant resources, to generate the economy in partnership with the private sector.

According to Kafulila, the PPP system saves the Government from spending billions of shillings from the Treasury that are not actually there, and instead the Government gets double the benefits.

“If we can use those assets to generate a large economy... we will increase the government's ability to finance projects," concluded Kafulila, urging participants to seize the opportunity.
