Majaliwa meets with Japan's Prime Minister, Discusses Road Rehabilitation.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa met with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, who assured him that Japan will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Tanzania. This collaboration aims to stimulate economic growth through ongoing opportunities arising from the partnership. The meeting took place May 29, 2025, at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo, Japan. Majaliwa stated that this commitment further opens doors for Japanese investors, businesspeople, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to continue implementing various development projects.
Majaliwa used the opportunity to inform Shigeru that, in addition to other ongoing projects in Tanzania, Japan, through JICA, should consider collaborating with the Tanzanian government to undertake major renovations of the Morogoro-Dodoma road and the Kibiti-Lindi road. These roads have been damaged by the heavy rains currently affecting the country. He mentioned that upon hearing this, Shigeru directed JICA's leadership and the Japanese Ambassador to Tanzania, Youichi Mikami, to visit the roads, assess the damage, and then submit a report so that the Japanese government can determine how it will cooperate with Tanzania in their rehabilitation.
In another development, Shigeru commended the continuous strengthening of cooperation between Tanzania and Japan. He pledged that various Japanese companies will continue to work with Tanzania to assist in economic growth, social development, and technology, recognizing Tanzania's growing population.
