Strengthening Cancer Control Services in Tanzania

Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) Ultra-modern Oncology Centre will be established at Mloganzila, Dar es Salaam. The project will involve construction of 5 storey building that will contain administrative offices and ultra-modern oncology facilities including 2 bunkers for tomotherapy (4D treatment services) and cyber knife machine. The goal of the project is to improve delivery of quality health care (preventive, curative, and palliative) for all Tanzanians with cancer.
The proposed project intends to solve problems of cancer patients accessing treatment services at advanced stage, which currently stands at 75-80% of all patients. The project will increase early detection through cancer screening which will reduce percentage of late stage presentation. The project also will enhance capacity building, innovation and attract diagnosis and treatment technology by deployment of 4D technology that is a modern treatment technology in the country, in Africa and the world at large.
